Honorable Stella Erhuvwuoghene Okotete currently serves as the Executive Director of Business Development at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM). She was appointed to this role by His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on April 20, 2017.


NEXIM Bank, established in 1991, is an export credit agency in Nigeria. It focuses on the development and expansion of the non-oil sectors of the Nigerian economy, aiming to reduce the country's over-reliance on oil exports. Under Stella's leadership, NEXIM Bank has experienced a transformation from a non-performing institution to an over-performing one. These initiatives demonstrate her commitment to job creation, industrialization, foreign exchange generation, and the achievement of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in terms of poverty eradication, economic stability, and gender equality. Additionally, she is currently developing export diversification initiatives to strengthen Nigeria's non-oil export sector and increase foreign exchange earnings, aligning with the federal government's diversification policy and programs.

Stella played a crucial role in attracting potential exporters for Nigeria's non-oil exports, as the country aims to address its trade deficit and balance its trade relations with China. She has been in talks with the Nexim Bank of China to resolve any bottlenecks in the exchange of financial instruments between the two countries.
