SKILL ACQUISITION: Enugu State Governor, Mbah Inaugurates Enugu Fashion Skills Acquisition Centre, Pledges Commitment to Poverty Eradication
The Executive Governor of Enugu state, Dr Peter Ndubisi Mbah, has officially commissioned the Enugu Fashion Skills Acquisition Centre. This initiative aligns with the state government's unwavering commitment to eliminating poverty through skill acquisition, fostering employability, and promoting self-sufficiency.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, Governor Peter Mbah underscored the vital role of skill acquisition in both challenging times and regular circumstances. He urged the inaugural batch of trainees to approach the program with dedication, emphasizing its potential for personal growth and the overall economic development of Enugu.
Pharm Chika Ugwuoke, the host commissioner, expressed gratitude for the Governor's support in establishing the center, emphasizing its profound impact on generational upliftment and communal prosperity for the people of Enugu. He hailed the center as a beacon of hope for realizing Governor Mbah's vision.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included commissioners for trade and investment, youths and sports development, water resources, special duties, the Head of Service, members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, and representatives from SMEDAN, NDE, IFAD, among others.
The state-of-the-art skill acquisition center, equipped with a training hall and three offices, boasts sophisticated sewing and embroidery machines along with other training materials. Commissioner for Labour and Employment, Hon Chika Ugwuoke, called upon MDAs, individuals, and the public to patronize the center, ensuring its sustainability and benefiting future generations.
Mr. Oscar, the Chief Trainer, outlined a comprehensive curriculum for participants, highlighting the vast opportunities the program presents. Under the supervision of Mr. Okey Odo, Head of Productivity, the training sessions will be conducted by a team of experienced trainers.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development encouraged participants to carve their niche for success in a competitive market, while Barr Blessing Ogbonna advised young girls to view the program as an opportunity for self-development in preparation for future opportunities.
The Enugu Fashion Skills Acquisition Centre stands as a testament to the state government's commitment to equipping its citizens with the tools for economic empowerment and sustainable growth.
