Enugu's Steve Oruruo Appointed to Lead Ebonyi PDP Caretaker Committee
The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has appointed Barr Steve Oruruo, former PDP Secretary in Enugu, to head a new Caretaker Committee, a significant move to rejuvenate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State. Known for his intellectual acumen and extensive experience, Oruruo is set to lead the committee's efforts to restore stability and unity within the party's Ebonyi chapter.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the PDP’s zonal office in Enugu, where Chief Ali Odefa, the zonal Chairman, officiated the event. The establishment of the 15-member caretaker committee comes as a decisive measure to address the internal conflicts and setbacks faced by the party in recent times.

During his tenure as the Secretary of the Enugu PDP, Barrister Oruruo distinguished himself through his adherence to standard practices, rectitude, and integrity. Chief Ali Odefa praised the NWC's judicious selection of committee members. "Today, I’m deeply impressed with the calibre of persons nominated into this caretaker committee, especially the Chairman and Secretary from Enugu State. They’re people of impeccable character, well-known within the party," he stated, encouraging the committee to remain true to the party's constitution and to resist undue influence from external stakeholders.
Rt. Hon. Iduma Igariwey, representing the Afikpo North/Afikpo South federal constituency, lauded the NWC’s proactive steps in resolving the party’s challenges. He highlighted the historical dominance of the PDP in Ebonyi State since 1999 and urged all party stakeholders to back the new committee's efforts.
Chief James Ugwu, the Secretary of the Southeast zone of the party, Rt. Hon. Iduma Igariwey, the chairman of the Southeast forum of the House of Representatives, and other prominent members were present at the event.
