'Mbah Was a Product of Zoning, Give Us Back Our Zoning System' Igboeze South Group Demands

 


Youths in Igbo-Eze South LGA of Enugu State, have kicked against the choice of Barr. Ugochukwu Ferdinand Ukwueze as party Nmnominee for the upcoming LG PDP chairmanship primary in the area, scheduled for 14th of August, 2024. 

The youths under the aegis of United Igbo-Eze South Youths, condemned the practice of ceeding power to Igbo-Eze East, after they have held recently the   Chairmanship position in the LGA for 10 years against the zoning principle in the LGA.

The youths condemned the practice of domination of one zone by another, against balance, equity and fairness anywhere in the world.

The group also condemned the practice where the LGA Chairman and the Vice come from the same zone (East) against the rotation principle of the LGA despite the obvious marginalization to the Western part of the LGA.

They however called on the Executive Governor of EnuguState, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to look at the plight of the people of the LGA and correct the wrongs of the recent past and revisit the decision taken yesterday on the choice zone to produce Chairman of the council. 

In a statement by the youth coordinator of the group, Hon. Ezugwu Johnson, he called on every good spirited individual in the state to condemn the yet another impending injustice about to be melted out to the people of the Western part of the LGA and join voices against the pervading injustice against the West in the LGA. 

His words: "This is GRAVE INJUSTICE AND MARGINALIZATION IN IGBO-EZE SOUTH. AND IF NOT REVERSED MAY CAUSE PDP ITS FORTUNES"


*INFORMATION*


"*A*. Igbo-Eze South is divided into East and West. The East has been oppressing the West for so long.


"*B*. In the last 12 years, the East has gone for Chairmanship for 10 good years (5 tenures) while the West has gone for just 2 years (one tenure).


"*C*. Now the same East is being favoured to return to power again for both Chairman and Vice-Chairman even when the last Chairman, Hon. Vitus Okechi is from the East.


"*D*. Both Eastern and Western parts of Igbo-Eze South have equal eight (8) wards each.


"*E*. In the recent time, for many years the Eastrrn part of Igbo-Eze South was holding the following positions together and at the same time :


1. House of Representatives for 16 years (Rt. Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu)

2. House of Assembly (Hon. Emeka Madu)

3. Local Government Chairman (Dr. Fidelis Odoh)

4. Commissioner (Hon. Vitus Okechi)

5. Chairman ENSUBEB (Chief Ikeje Adogwa)

6. Admin. Rangers (Barr. Emeka Ugwuerua)

7. Accountant General of the state (Remigius Odo)

8. General Manager CSDP (Chief Maxzi Asogwa)

9. Two permanent secretaries (Lolo Chioma Ugwu and Casmir Ugwu).


While the West part of Igbo-Eze South as at that time had only

Vice-Chairman of the council.


In the words of the former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to the stakeholders of the East on February, 2020 during a stakeholders meeting with the ex Governor ;


"You people have so marginalized the Western part of Igbo-Eze South for so long that it will take more than 40 years before they (the West) can cover up.


*F*. The news of yesterday has thrown Igbo-Eze South into turmoil and it is not healthy with the prevailing political situations in Enugu-North zone.


*G*. The Western part of Igbo-Eze South is requesting His Excellency, the Governor for a review and reversal of yesterday's decisions for the interest of all.


*G*. His Excellency, the Governor is known to be a just and transparent leader of all time, and he should not allow the greedy and selfish interest of the Eastern part of Igbo-Eze South to ruin the positive impact and impression he has created in the hearts of our people through his performance  and leadership prowess. 


*H*. Since yesterday Igbo-Eze South (including majority of the East who are patriotic) has been dead cold and it may cause unhealthy situations for PDP.


*I*. Other surrounding local government areas are as shocked and complaining as the Western people of Igbo-Eze South because of the grave injustice in Igbo-Eze South.


We pray His Excellency, the Governor to save this situation that is capable of portending danger in Igbo-Eze South.

Again, Oriokpa Masquerades Kill Another Innocent Woman in Enugu

A middle-aged woman was reportedly killed today in Enugu, Tuesday, 24th of September 2024, in Nsukka Town in separate incidents involving the notorious Oriokpa masquerades, whose violent activities have continued to instill fear in the local communities. The first casualty, an unidentified middle-aged woman, met her untimely death at Aku Road, Obechara area, Nsukka, after being chased by one of the Oriokpa masquerades. In an attempt to escape, she ran into a moving truck and was killed instantly, causing widespread panic and horror among onlookers.
