2024 World Teachers' Day: Enugu STVSMB Chairman, Dr. Ngene Celebrates Teachers

In celebration of this year's World Teachers' Day, the Chairman of the Enugu Science Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB), Dr. Amaka Ngene, has commended the teachers in the state for their unwavering dedication to shaping the future of generations to come.

Dr. Ngene, in a statement, highlighted the significance of this year's theme, "Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education," stressing the critical role teachers play in advancing education through their insights and contributions.

She reassured the teachers under her Board of the Enugu State Government’s commitment, led by Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, to the advancement of the teaching profession. This commitment, she noted, would be realized through various strategic initiatives, including:

  1. Increased Funding: A pledge to enhance the resources allocated for educational materials and the improvement of infrastructure in technical schools.

  2. Professional Development: The facilitation of regular training programs aimed at equipping teachers with innovative teaching methods suited to diverse learners.

  3. Digital Integration: Collaborations with technology firms to incorporate digital tools and online platforms, ensuring interactive and engaging student experiences.

  4. Mentorship Programs: The introduction of initiatives designed to support both novice and experienced teachers, promoting collaboration and shared knowledge across the teaching community.

  5. Collaboration: Establishing partnerships with educational institutions to exchange resources and best practices for the overall benefit of the sector.

  6. Recognition and Rewards: The creation of incentive schemes and recognition programs to honor teachers who demonstrate outstanding performance in the classroom.

Dr. Ngene urged the teachers to actively engage with these initiatives, particularly in embracing digital technologies and adopting best practices that enrich the learning experience.

"Together, let us work towards a new social contract for education that values and empowers teachers as the backbone of our educational system," she concluded.
