BREAKING: DSS Commences Investigation on Senator for Alleged Bandit Sponsorship

The Department of State Service (DSS) is currently investigating Senator Shehu Buba, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District, over alleged ties to a notorious bandit, Abubakar Idris. Sources have revealed that a security report on the senator was forwarded to President Bola Tinubu, implicating him in helping the bandit travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.

The investigation reveals that Abubakar Idris and another individual, Zainab Aliyu Gado, were registered as pilgrims through Yahaya Ibrahim, a Senior Legislative Aide to the senator. The DSS reportedly acted on this information, invading the Bauchi State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board during the 2024 pilgrimage operations, where they seized Idris’s e-passport. Although Zainab Aliyu had already left for the pilgrimage, Idris was arrested and is now in DSS custody, suspected of involvement in banditry and kidnapping activities in Zamfara State.

The senator’s alleged involvement in facilitating the registration of known criminals for international travel has raised serious concerns. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are expected to prosecute all those found complicit.
