Breaking News! Organ Trafficking: Police Rescue Victim, Arrest Gang Member

Police has successfully dismantled a suspected kidnapping and organ trafficking syndicate operating in the Douglass area of Imo state, following a swift operation that led to the arrest of one suspect and the rescue of a young victim.

In a statement released on Friday, the police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, identified as Justine Emmanuel from Amimo in Ikeduru Local Government Area. The operation resulted in the rescue of a 19-year-old woman, whose identity has been withheld to protect her privacy.

According to Okoye, the arrest was made possible due to the quick response of police operatives who were conducting visibility patrols in the area. The officers observed suspicious activity involving the syndicate, who were seen in a blue and white bus forcefully abducting the young woman. The syndicate was reportedly attempting to transport the victim to an undisclosed location, where they intended to kill her and harvest her organs.

The police spokesperson detailed the dramatic sequence of events, noting that during the pursuit, the victim bravely managed to jump from the moving bus, risking her life in the process. She was immediately rescued by the police, who continued their pursuit of the vehicle. The bus was eventually abandoned, and while some members of the syndicate fled into the nearby bush, one suspect was apprehended.

“The Command is now investigating further to identify other members of the syndicate and determine the full extent of their criminal activities,” Okoye stated. He stressed that the rescue underscores the Imo State Police Command’s dedication to fighting violent crime and ensuring the safety of residents.

The police have called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities, as efforts continue to track down the remaining members of the gang.

This operation is seen as a significant step in the ongoing fight against organized crime in the region, with the police reiterating their commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators of such heinous acts are brought to justice.

Authorities have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to curb organ trafficking and other related criminal activities in the state.
