Wives of Fraudsters Should Also Be Arrested Alongside Their Husbands – Laura Ikeji
Nigerian businesswoman and social media influencer, Laura Ikeji Kanu, has sparked controversy with her recent statement that the wives of internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, should also face legal consequences when their husbands are arrested for fraud.
In a post shared on her Instastory, Laura argued that these women enjoy the luxury and benefits that come from their husbands' fraudulent activities. Therefore, when the men are caught, their wives should also be held accountable.
According to her, justice should be served equally, as these women knowingly benefit from illicit wealth. She implied that turning a blind eye to their husbands' illegal dealings does not absolve them of guilt.
Her statement has generated mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that partners of fraudsters should bear some responsibility, while others argue that not all wives are aware of or involved in their husbands' criminal activities.
Laura Ikeji, who is known for her outspoken nature, has previously shared strong opinions on societal and relationship matters. However, this particular statement has ignited a heated debate on whether family members of criminals should also be prosecuted.
The discussion continues on social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the ethics and legality of her suggestion.
