Enugu Federal House of Assembly Representative, Hon. Chimaobi Atu, has dedicated his recent electoral victory to the former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi. The dedication took place during Atu's inauguration thanksgiving and civic reception in Ugwuaji, Enugu South local government area of Enugu state.

The event was attended by prominent personalities including Prof Bath Nnaji, the former minister for power and CEO of Geometric Power Limited; Hon. Nnoli Nnaji, former chairman of the Representatives committee on Aviation; Senator Kelvin Chukwu; Atu's colleagues in the House of Representatives; House of Assembly members; traditional and religious leaders; and supporters of the Obident movement.

Atu emerged victorious in the National Assembly election representing the Enugu North/Enugu South federal constituency, defeating his closest rival, Hon. Offor Chukwuegbo of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Chukwuegbo had previously represented the constituency for three terms and was seeking a fourth term before being defeated by Atu of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election.

During the dedication, Atu acknowledged the significant impact of Peter Obi's involvement in the 2023 election, stating that it had unprecedentedly changed the political landscape. He pledged to adopt Obi's ideology and leadership style as his political template. Atu expressed his gratitude to Obi, assuring him that he and his colleagues in the National Assembly would remain thankful for his support.

Highlighting his legislative agenda for the 10th Assembly, Atu emphasized his commitment to providing quality representation for his constituents. He promised to collaborate closely with the new House leadership to achieve effective representation. Atu also mentioned his willingness, along with his colleagues in the Labour Party, to engage in a bipartisan process that would serve the people and the entire country.

The representative disclosed that addressing the threat of gully erosion at the New Market/Ugwuonyeama/9th mile road was his first motion in the 10th National Assembly. He expressed his dedication to tackling this issue and emphasized his appointment as a member of the House Ad-hoc committee on legislative agenda, which demonstrated his seriousness in addressing the concern.

Atu further revealed plans to establish a Tech Hub in Enugu South local government area, while arrangements with the federal ministry of communications and digital economy were underway to establish another Tech Hub in Enugu North local government area. These initiatives aim to enhance the skills of young people in artificial intelligence, coding, web design, and social media marketing.

Recognizing the importance of agriculture and technology, Atu pledged to prioritize these sectors. With the world's gradual shift away from fossil fuels, he stressed the need to provide substantial support to agriculture and technology. Additionally, Atu highlighted education as a top priority, emphasizing its crucial role in the nation's development. He also promised to oversee the timely delivery of budgeted infrastructure in the constituency through effective oversight functions.

Hon. Chimaobi Atu's dedication of his electoral victory to Peter Obi reflects his appreciation for the support received and his commitment to adopting Obi's leadership principles. As he begins his tenure in the 10th Assembly, Atu aims to provide quality representation, address critical issues, promote technology, support agriculture, and prioritize education for the betterment of his constituents and the nation as a whole.
