Breaking News: Governor Sacks SA over Leaked Video

The Executive Governor's Special Assistant on Forestry (Central Senatorial District) to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Mr. Adeboye Taofiq Ewenla, has been dismissed following allegations of demanding a N30 million bribe from timber merchants. Ewenla was reportedly recorded during a telephone conversation demanding the payment to allow the Ondo timber merchants to operate.

According to government sources, the conversation was shared with Governor Aiyedatiwa after the merchants threatened to confront Ewenla over his demands. In the tape, Ewenla is heard instructing the traders not to commence any operations in the forest without first paying the bribe.

A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aiyedatiwa, Ebenezer Adeniyan, confirmed that the dismissal resulted from allegations of bribery and intimidation brought forth by timber merchants in the state. The statement emphasized that Governor Aiyedatiwa has initiated an investigation into the activities of individuals responsible for managing forest reserves within the state.

The statement read, “A replacement for Mr. Ewenla will be announced in due course. The Governor urged all political appointees to conduct themselves in line with the provisions of the law and the rules guiding their duties.”
