BREAKING: Police Arrest Three for Alleged Murder Over Land Dispute

In a brutal murder of a 32-year-old man, Dahiru Musa, over a land ownership dispute, the Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with it.

The incident took place on September 29, 2024, in the Dorayi Quarters of Kano.

According to the Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the case began when the brother of the deceased reported Musa missing. The family suspected foul play, particularly focusing on Aliyu Adamu, a 22-year-old resident of Gaida Yan-Kusa Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area, who was the last person seen with Musa.

A police investigation promptly led to Adamu’s arrest on September 30, 2024. During interrogation, Adamu confessed to conspiring with his friend, Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20, to lure Musa to his home under the pretense of a land transaction. Adamu revealed that he poisoned Musa’s food, and after Musa became unconscious, he and Abdulsalam stabbed him to death. They then hid his body in an uncompleted building near Adamu’s house, aiming to seize the deceased's land, as Adamu had access to the property documents.

As the investigation progressed, the police also apprehended Abdulsalam. Under questioning, he disclosed that, after Adamu’s arrest, he and a third suspect, Sadiq Sunusi, 19, attempted to destroy evidence by burning the victim’s body using petrol. This act was intended to cover their tracks and eliminate any traces of the crime.

The remains of Dahiru Musa were recovered and transported to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for an autopsy.

The suspects confessed to their involvement in a video shared by the police on social media. They are currently in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section and will face prosecution after the investigation is completed.

Commissioner of Police Salman Dogo Garba commended the public for their cooperation, which led to the swift arrests, and urged residents of Kano to exercise caution when conducting business or social engagements, particularly in secluded locations.
