ENUGU STATE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (ENADEP) KICKS OF 2024 POST HARVEST SEASON SENSITISATION PROGRAMMES IN NSUKKA AND UDENU LGAS RESPECTIVELY




In a bid to ensure that rural farmers in Enugu State are well equipped and trained, the Enugu State Agricultural Development Programme (ENADEP) had commenced their maiden annual Post Farming Season Sensitization Programme. The event which took place in Adada Hall, Nsukka LGA and in Udenu LGA Secretariat, Obollo Afor respectively on 2nd October, 2024 was the first of its kind in the State. This was the brainchild of the Programme Manager of ENADEP Prof Ogbonna Onyeisi who initiated this project to prepare the rural farmers on the various means, technicalities and mode of harvesting and as well processing and safeguarding their Agricultural products. The programme which is targeted to provide a road map for the rural farmers to utilise the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in order to enhance food processing, packaging and value addition in all the Agricultural Value Chain. 

In his opening remarks, the ENADEP Programme Manager Prof Ogbonna Onyeisi intimated the rural farmers on the major areas of Agricultural Intervention Programmes from the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who has demonstrated passion to grow and develop Enugu State economy through agriculture. He buttressed on the needs of the rural farmers to first of all, key in to the already set up agenda of the State Government and as well learn the modern trends of food preservation to improve the economy of the State. He equally highlighted them on the possible means of exportation of their products to the international community. According to Onyeisi, ENADEP is working with the Honourable Commissioner for  Agriculture and Agro-Industrialization, Hon.Patrick Ubru to organize more trainings to assist Enugu State farmers. 


The Trainers are:

1. Mrs Francisca Ugwueke (The ENADEP Zonal Manager, Nsukka Agricultural Zone comprising of Nsukka, Igbo-Etiti and Uzo-Uwani LGAs)

2. Mrs Eze Jacinta (The ENADEP Zonal Manager, Enugu Ezike Agricultural Zone comprising of Igbo-Eze North, Igbo-Eze South and Udenu LGAs)

3. Barr.Paul Ezugwu( Director of Human Resources, Training,  and Development, ENADEP).

4. Mrs Elizabeth Ezema (Director Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, ENADEP)

5. Mrs Ugwu Florence (Processing Officer ENADEP)

6. Rex Buchi Akwolu (MD/CEO LINBEN AGRO VENTURES and A Consultant with ENADEP).

The programme recorded a huge turn up in the both LGA. The audience was made up of the President Generals of different Autonomous Communities, The Clergies and rural farmers etc.

The Closing Remarks were made by Dr Pius Omeje, HOD Agriculture, Nsukka LGA who represented the Head of Personnel Management (HPM).The HPM of Udenu, Mr. Harrison Mbah in his vote of thanks welcomed the initiatives of the ENADEP to organize the sensitization which will help Enugu State farmers to be updated and innovative.
