BREAKING: Anambra Businessman Kidnapped
A middle-aged man, believed to be a businessman, was abducted late Sunday in the Alor community of Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, leaving the community in shock. According to reports, the incident occurred as the man was driving home from an event, ambushed near Ezeani Primary School by a group of unidentified gunmen.
Witnesses stated that the assailants blocked the man’s vehicle, a Toyota Corolla with plate number EKY-102GK, and violently attacked him, shattering his car windows and striking his head with a gun. He was forcibly dragged from his vehicle and bundled into the trunk of the attackers' car before they sped away. According to one eyewitness, “The incident happened around 6:47 PM. Although we couldn’t see his face clearly due to the blood covering it, we suspect he is a businessman and a member of this community.”
The victim’s abandoned car was later found at the roadside, bloodstained and drawing a small crowd of residents who cautiously observed from hidden spots. A video capturing the scene has since circulated on social media, showing the vehicle left deserted in a manner resembling a high-stakes movie sequence.
On Monday, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the incident, acknowledging that a preliminary investigation is underway. “The Command has started an investigation of a reported abandoned, but recovered vehicle in Alor Community, Idemili South LG,” Ikenga stated. He confirmed that the victim had been taken by yet-to-be-identified individuals, and assured the public that law enforcement is collaborating with local residents to locate and rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible.
The case has intensified concerns over the rise of violent abductions in the area, with many residents now fearful for their safety as investigations proceed.
