One of the women involved in the scandal surrounding Equatorial Guinea’s financial crime chief, Baltasar Ebang Engonga, has allegedly taken her own life. Reports from City Digest Kenya indicate that the woman, whose identity has not been released, ended her life after seeing a video of herself trending online. In a video shared by the publication, her family members are seen mourning over her body, visibly shaken by the tragedy.
Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the head of Equatorial Guinea's National Agency for Financial Investigation (ANIF), has found himself at the center of a highly controversial scandal involving hundreds of explicit recordings. Engonga, a married man and father of six, was originally detained on corruption charges. However, the investigation uncovered more than 300 explicit tapes on his personal devices, revealing his encounters with multiple women. Some of the women involved are reported to be married, including the spouse of the Presidential security head and his own brother's wife. The recordings were allegedly filmed in various locations, including Engonga's office, hotels, and public areas.
Following the discovery, the explicit footage was leaked by authorities, causing widespread outrage and further backlash. The scandal has drawn public condemnation not only because of Engonga’s prominent position but also due to the devastating effects on the families involved.
