Former Governor Supports 150 Women with N3 Million Business Grant
In a bid to empower women in Osun State, about 150 women from the Irepodun Local Government Area were granted a total of N3 million on Saturday. The initiative, backed by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, aims to boost the business ventures of women in the region.
Mr. Olalekan Badmus, the Executive Director of Marine and Operations at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), spoke on behalf of the initiative, explaining that the goal was to strengthen the local economy and reduce poverty. He emphasized that this program aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to empower citizens through various support programs.
In addition to the financial grants, the initiative is part of a broader effort to assist 4,000 residents of Osun State through scholarships, youth orientation programs, and other forms of empowerment. Badmus mentioned that 3,000 residents had already benefited from the program within a year and assured that the support would continue across the state.
The Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Asiru Olaniyan, praised the initiative, acknowledging the significant impact the grant would have on the women’s businesses and their families. He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, ensuring they are spent on improving their businesses rather than on frivolous expenses.
This business grant is seen as a critical step toward fostering economic growth and reducing poverty in Osun State.
