State government has demolished two Buildings Used For Holding Hostages, As Security Operatives Raid Kidnappers Den...
Anambra State’s newly launched security force, Agunechemba (Operation Udo Ga-Achị), has successfully raided a kidnap gang’s hideout in Isiagu, Awka South Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.
The security operation led to the demolition of two buildings, allegedly used by kidnappers to hold their victims until ransoms were paid. Several viral videos showed Agunechemba operatives using a bulldozer to demolish the properties, which were located in Isiagu.
In one video, a voice confirmed that the houses, separated by a perimeter fence, had been identified through confessions of arrested kidnappers. The operatives found evidence supporting claims that the houses were used to detain hostages.
The demolitions were carried out in compliance with the recently signed Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, which states that properties used for criminal activities must be forfeited and demolished. According to the operation leader, the landlords of the buildings were aware of the illegal activities occurring on their premises but failed to report them to authorities, thereby implicating them in the kidnapping business.
The Anambra State government, under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged to continue taking firm action against criminal activities in the state. The demolition is in line with the governor’s commitment to ensuring safety and security for the citizens of Anambra.
The government has also announced a reward system for individuals who provide credible information leading to the arrest of kidnappers, with a financial reward of up to N5 million.
