Breaking News! State Govt Seals Mosque Over Leadership Tussle

The Agege Local Government Area in Lagos State has sealed the popular mosque ‘Mosalasi Alhaja’ due to a leadership dispute that followed the death of the Chief Imam. The Executive Chairman of the Agege Local Government, Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi, issued the directive in a statement on Saturday.

The tension arose between the family of the late Chief Imam, Sheikh Habib Abdulmajid, and his vice, Sheikh Mustapha Muktar. In response, Egunjobi ordered the mosque to be closed to prevent any disturbances to public peace and order.

The order, which took immediate effect, aims to avoid further conflicts caused by rivalry within the local Hausa community. Chief Egunjobi visited the mosque to ensure compliance with the directive and promised that adequate security would be provided to maintain calm in the area.

He also mentioned that a stakeholders' meeting would be organized to address the leadership crisis and restore normalcy.
