Tension as APC Takes Over PDP Secretariat...

Tension arose in Benin City when the All Progressives Congress (APC) took control of the building previously used by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its state secretariat. The APC claimed ownership of the property, asserting that it had renewed the lease for seven years before the PDP, with Governor Godwin Obaseki's help, forcibly took the building from them four years ago. APC State Chairman Jarrett Tenebe recounted that despite efforts to regain access, the party was prevented from returning to the building by the police under the influence of the then governor.

Tenebe stated that the APC would remodel the building to reflect its identity and would resist any attempts to remove them from the property. Meanwhile, PDP State Chairman Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, who was present at the time of the takeover, was escorted out of the building by the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku.
