BREAKING: Two Kidnappers Arrested for Killing 12-Year-Old Boy in Katsina After Parents Failed to Pay N25m Ransom
Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command for the abduction and subsequent murder of a 12-year-old boy in Dankama, Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State. The boy was kidnapped on January 11, 2025, while running an errand for his mother, and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N25 million for his release.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the kidnappers contacted the family on the same day at around 9:00 pm, demanding the ransom. Despite negotiations by the family, the kidnappers refused to release the boy and later killed him, leaving his lifeless body abandoned on the outskirts of Dankama.
The police launched a full investigation following the discovery of the body. On January 13, 2025, two suspects, Muttaka Garba (24) and Yusuf Usman (20), were arrested and confessed to the crime. The police also recovered the phone used by the kidnappers to make the ransom demand.
The Katsina State Police Commissioner, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, has ensured that the suspects will be prosecuted as soon as investigations are completed. The tragic incident highlights the continuing threat of kidnapping in the region, and law enforcement remains committed to addressing this issue with ongoing investigations and arrests.
