Enugu ALGON Procures Brand New Coaster Bus to Cut Cost of Governance

In a bid to align with the current push for efficient governance and cost reduction, the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, led by Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, has procured a coaster bus aimed at cutting expenditure. This bold move is designed to eliminate waste and streamline the transportation of local government chairmen to official functions.

Previously, individual vehicles were used by the chairmen for such functions, contributing to unnecessary expenses. The new coaster bus will serve all the chairmen, effectively reducing the cost of transportation for public officials and helping to eliminate long convoys that often congest the roads.

The decision to adopt this approach is a reflection of the ALGON’s commitment to aligning with the broader vision of reducing the cost of governance in the state. Public officials will now be required to either use the provided bus for official duties or finance their own transportation, a move that underscores the state’s focus on responsible spending.

This procurement follows the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s example, who has already reduced his official convoy as part of his administration’s push to lead by example in terms of cost-cutting measures. ALGON’s decision is a clear signal that the local governments are keen on promoting a culture of selflessness and accountability in public service.

The Chairman of Enugu State ALGON, Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh received accolades for his visionary approach to leadership which led to the procurement of the brand new bus.

By adopting this approach, ALGON in Enugu State is taking a significant step toward efficient governance and ensuring that public resources are utilized effectively for the benefit of the people.
