HAPPENING NOW! Oshiomhole Kicks Against JAMB’s Expenditures of; N850 million For Fumigation, N600 million for Local Travel Expense, 1.1 billion On Meals and Refreshments In 2024, During Budget Defense
During a budget defense session, Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Hon. Abiodun Faleke raised concerns over the expenditures of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Oshiomhole questioned the justification for the N1.1 billion spent on meals and refreshments, emphasizing that this money was sourced from the fees paid by poor students, many of whom are orphans. He also queried the N850 million allocated for security, cleaning, and fumigation, specifically asking what had been fumigated that warranted such a large amount.
Additionally, Oshiomhole criticized JAMB’s spending of N600 million on local travel, expressing concerns over its necessity.
Hon. Abiodun Faleke, the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, also raised concerns about JAMB’s financial management, noting that the organization remitted N4 billion while receiving N6 billion from the Federal Government. He suggested that JAMB should keep the N4 billion and cease receiving further government funding.
