JUST IN: State House of Assembly Member Clears 3-Year Fees of 50 Undergraduates
The member representing Abakaliki North constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Victor Nwoke, has launched a new scholarship scheme and cleared 3-year tuition fees of 50 indigent undergraduates enrolled at the National Teachers Institute (NTI) with N8,050,000.
Each student’s fee for the first year is N71,000, N50,000 for the second year, and N40,000 for the third year. Nwoke paid a total of N3,550,000 for the first year, N2,500,000 for the second year, and N2,000,000 for the third year for the 50 students.
Nwoke had also attracted the opening of the NTI study center in his community at Izzi Unuphu Community Secondary School in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
During the flag-off of the scholarship scheme and the opening of the NTI study center, Nwoke expressed his commitment to improving education access for his constituents, particularly those who could not afford to travel to other states for schooling. He emphasized that the establishment of the study center in his community would save his people from the burden of travel and other expenses.
"I enrolled 50 students in this study center, and I paid their school fees, textbooks, and everything else. They are on scholarship for three years, and upon graduation, they will earn a National Certificate in Education," Nwoke said.
He also encouraged stakeholders, including local government officials, traditional rulers, and others, to enroll people in the center as a way to promote education in the area.
The Acting Coordinator of NTI Ebonyi State, Mr. Ugwu Nicolas, expressed optimism that the study center would thrive and become a full-fledged center in the future. He commended Nwoke for his dedication and support to improving education in the state.
