JUST IN: UAE President Accepts Tinubu’s Invitation to Visit Nigeria in 2025

 

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has accepted an invitation from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year. The invitation came during bilateral talks between the two leaders on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025.

President Tinubu, who arrived in Abu Dhabi as a guest of the UAE President, participated in discussions at the forum, which focused on promoting sustainable development and addressing global challenges such as climate change, energy crises, and water scarcity. In his speech, President Tinubu conveyed Nigeria’s position on these pressing issues and extended congratulations to Sheikh Mohamed for hosting the event.

A statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu, revealed that during their discussions, Sheikh Mohamed expressed the UAE’s interest in strengthening economic cooperation with Nigeria. The two leaders explored ways to attract investments into Nigeria, with President Tinubu emphasizing his administration’s economic reforms as the foundation for robust partnerships. He highlighted that these reforms have stabilized and grown Nigeria’s economy, creating an environment conducive to attracting foreign investments.

The Nigerian delegation included key officials such as Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. The UAE delegation featured high-ranking officials including Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, among others.

This high-level engagement signifies a renewed commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between Nigeria and the UAE.
