Man Who Burnt Wife to Death Begs Children for Forgiveness
On January 21, 2025, in Abagana, Anambra State, Obiozor Sunday Nwaka, a welder, set his wife, Blessing Chioma Nwaka, on fire after accusing her of infidelity. The tragic incident resulted in severe burns, and the victim later died in a hospital on January 22.
In a tearful confession, Nwaka, who is currently in police custody, expressed remorse and begged for forgiveness from his five children. He claimed the act was fueled by anger and jealousy after not knowing his wife’s whereabouts the previous day.
Despite the deceased’s family and church testifying that she had not reported any domestic violence, it was revealed that Nwaka had a history of violent behavior, with previous incidents where he allegedly attempted to harm his wife.
The Anambra State Government has vowed to ensure that justice is served in this case, with the state's Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare condemning the act and assuring full legal repercussions for the suspect.
