National Assembly Postpones Resumption Date

The National Assembly, including both the Senate and House of Representatives, has postponed its resumption of plenary sessions from the previously scheduled date of January 28 to February 4, 2025.

This delay is attributed to the ongoing budget defense process, which requires more time for committees to complete their engagements with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). A statement from the Clerk of the Senate, Andrew Nwoba, confirmed the new resumption date, which is now set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4.

Similarly, the House of Representatives, via its spokesperson Akin Rotimi, confirmed the postponement, with the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, issuing an internal memo to members. The adjustment aims to ensure thorough and comprehensive discussions and the completion of all necessary budget reviews before plenary resumes.

This move is part of the legislature's commitment to meeting its responsibilities and ensuring detailed attention to national fiscal matters.
