TRAGEDY: Unknown Gunmen Assassinate Top State Security Official on Sunday

 



On Sunday, January 19, 2025, unknown gunmen assassinated Yomi Adetula, the Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling for the So-Safe Corps in Ogun State. The attack occurred in the Celestial Church of Christ’s Eagle Parish, located in Idi-Iroko, Ipokia Local Government Area.

The gunmen opened fire on Adetula during the Sunday service around 10 a.m. Though the initial gunshots did not harm him, the attackers resorted to using hammers and machetes to inflict fatal injuries. Witnesses confirmed the brutal nature of the assault.

The Ogun State Police confirmed the death and stated that Adetula’s body was found with multiple injuries from both gunshots and sharp objects. The attackers fled towards the border after the crime. Authorities have launched an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The police also assured that normalcy had been restored in the area.

The video, which shows vehicles set ablaze by individuals allegedly affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) while enforcing an unlawful sit-at-home order, is being recirculated across social media platforms.
