BREAKING: Boko Haram Terrorists Attack Nigerian Army Base, Kill Three Soldiers, Steal Gun Trucks in Borno
Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have killed three Nigerian Army personnel following an attack on a military base in Borno State.
It was gathered that the terrorists attacked the military facility in Isige town, Gwoza Local Government Area of the state last Sunday. The assault lasted for several hours. During the attack, the terror group set fire to several buildings and stole two gun trucks.
The identities of the soldiers who lost their lives are being withheld as their families are yet to be notified.
Sources reported, "The attackers burned one military vehicle while they took away two gun trucks. Reinforcements later arrived from a nearby unit, but by then, the Boko Haram fighters had left."
This attack comes after a recent brutal assault on the military’s Forward Operating Base in Damboa Local Government Area, which led to numerous casualties, and many soldiers still missing.
Since the death of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has been consolidating its control over areas around Lake Chad, with an increased number of Boko Haram defectors joining their ranks. The group has claimed responsibility for several attacks in recent months.
The Nigerian Army has repeatedly claimed that the insurgency has largely been defeated, but the terror group continues to wreak havoc, having caused over 100,000 deaths and displaced millions of people, primarily in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.
