BREAKING: Former Nigerian President's ADC Collapses at Golf Club, Dies On a Spot

The military community and the nation were struck by tragic news on Thursday morning, as Major General Chris Jemitola (rtd), a former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, passed away after collapsing at the IBB Golf Club.

Family sources confirmed that Major General Jemitola had collapsed unexpectedly at the golf club. Despite urgent efforts to rush him to the hospital, he was tragically pronounced dead on arrival.

Jemitola, who served as the ADC to President Obasanjo between 2003 and 2007, was a respected officer in the Nigerian Army. During this period, he held the rank of Colonel and gained recognition for his dedication and professionalism in his role as the president's personal aide.

After his service as ADC, Jemitola's military career flourished as he assumed the position of Director of Defence Information, where he managed public communication for the Nigerian military. His expertise in defense matters saw him appointed as the Defence Attaché at the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil, further solidifying his standing within the military.

In his final active-duty role, Jemitola served as the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) within the Nigerian Army. His strategic leadership in this capacity helped shape the army’s military operations.

After retiring from active military service, Jemitola made a successful transition to the private sector. In 2019, he became Senior Advisor for Military Communications at Pinnacle Communications Limited. His vast experience and insights were invaluable in shaping military communications strategies in the private sector.

Jemitola’s sudden passing has left a void in the military and communication sectors of Nigeria. His family has yet to release an official statement, but the impact of his loss resonates deeply within the military community and beyond.

He was known not only for his dedication to his country but also for his warm personality and service-minded leadership, which made him well-regarded both in and out of uniform.

As the nation mourns his untimely passing, tributes from military colleagues, friends, and former associates have started pouring in, remembering his exceptional service and leadership.

This incident comes as a reminder of the fragility of life and the unexpected ways in which it can change. Major General Jemitola's legacy, however, will continue to inspire many in the military and communications fields for years to come.
