BREAKING! New Testimonies, Evidence Unveil Alleged Unlawful Activities of Police Officer Dumiri in Obollo-Afor

...As Youth Leader, Chukwudi Ukwueze Shares His Observations on Inspector Dumiri's Conduct

Chukwudi Ukwueze Exposes Police Officer Dumiri’s Brutal Tactics and Calls for Action in Obollo Afor:

Chukwudi Ukwueze has raised serious concerns about a police officer, allegedly known as Dumiri, whose notorious use of brutal force against young people is well known throughout Obollo and Udenu. While Ukwueze is uncertain if "Dumiri" is his real name, the officer’s reputation for unlawful crackdowns is undeniable. From Obollo Eke to Obollo Afor, Obollo Etiti, and Ogbodu Aba, Dumiri is said to terrorize young people for offenses outside his jurisdiction.

According to Ukwueze, Dumiri’s modus operandi includes arresting young people for trivial reasons such as possessing a lighter or a sheet of rizzler. He allegedly invades, raids, captures, tortures, and locks up individuals, demanding bail money for offenses as minor as sitting in a public bar. This has been going on for years, and if allegations that Dumiri is responsible for the death of Mr. John Nnaemeka, the patent drug seller, are proven true, Ukwueze believes the officer will have to face the consequences.

Ukwueze insists that Obollo people must not ignore this abuse of power. He calls for Dumiri to be petitioned and held accountable for his actions.

In addition to this, Ukwueze emphasizes that the rampant abuse of power by officers like Dumiri is fueled by the widespread ignorance of citizens about their rights. He notes that many people, in casual conversations, tend to give police officers unwarranted authority, which officers exploit to further abuse the public.

While Ukwueze acknowledges the importance of developing infrastructure, he argues that the priority should be on improving the education and awareness of the people. He stresses the need for a state of emergency on quality education and reorientation to educate the population about their legal rights. Many people in Udenu, he claims, are either mal-educated, miseducated, or undereducated, and this is a serious concern for the community.

Ukwueze calls on people to understand that police officers who search homes or shops without a search warrant are breaking the law, and such actions should be treated with skepticism. He concludes with a call to action: “We’ve seen enough. It’s time to take action now.”

Recall that Orba Youth Advocacy Executives (OYA) have previously condemned the actions of police officers in Obollo-Afor, particularly highlighting the incident involving the brutal treatment of Mr. Nnaemeka Ugwu. On February 6, 2025, Ugwu, a law-abiding citizen from Umuezejor, Obollo-Afor, tragically passed away after being subjected to excessive force by a police officer from the Nsukka Area Command. This event has sparked outrage among local activists and youth leaders, prompting calls for justice and a thorough investigation into the officers involved.

In their statement, OYA expressed deep concern over the brutality faced by Mr. Ugwu, describing the incident as a stark reminder of the ongoing issue of police brutality in the region. They detailed how the police officer, identified as Inspector Dumiri, and his team stormed a patent medicine store on New Makurdi Road, Obollo-Afor, accusing the owner of selling illicit drugs. During the chaotic raid, Ugwu was arrested and later subjected to harsh treatment during interrogation, ultimately leading to his death.

This tragedy has reinforced the need for immediate reforms within the police force, as it highlights the pattern of abuse of power that has plagued the Nsukka Area Command. The community, in solidarity with OYA, has demanded accountability, calling for the responsible officer to be brought to justice and for an unbiased investigation into the circumstances of Ugwu’s death.

The leadership of OYA has vowed to continue advocating for the rights of the people and to fight against police impunity. The organization stresses that this case is not an isolated incident but part of a much larger problem that must be addressed through systemic reform and proper education of the public on their rights.
