BREAKING: Policeman Who R@ped Teenager In His Office in Lagos Sent to Prison
Owolabi Akinlolu, a policeman assigned to the Ogudu Police Station in Lagos, has been remanded in prison after allegedly r@ping a 17-year-old girl in his office.
The incident occurred after Akinlolu offered to help the teenager retrieve her stolen phone, which had been taken by ‘one chance’ robbers. The victim shared the incident with her mother, and Akinlolu overheard it and offered assistance to track the phone.
According to the victim, Akinlolu instructed her to come to the police station, where she was told that there had been a mistake with the tracking. She was then called into his office, where he locked the door and assaÙlted her after threatening to shoot her if she screamed. The officer also told her that she had to report to him every day during school breaks or after school.
In July 2024, the teenager's mother, Mrs. Aramide Olupona, accused the police of attempting to cover up the crime. She claimed Akinlolu’s family visited her shop and requested leniency, citing his imminent retirement.
The prosecution submitted a seven-paragraph affidavit in court, stating that Akinlolu's actions violated Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The Magistrate, O.O. Fagboun, ordered his remand at the Maximum Correctional Centre in Kirikiri, with the case adjourned to March 11, 2025, for further proceedings.
