Enugu East Town Hall: Barr. Steve Oruruo Hails Governor Peter Mbah, Says Sectionalism Deleted From Enugu Politics
Leaders and stakeholders from Enugu East Senatorial Zone have unanimously endorsed Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for a second term in 2027, declaring that his transformative governance has united Enugu State beyond sectional or partisan boundaries.
The event, which held on Sunday at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, culminated in a communiqué titled “One Good Turn Deserves Another”, where the zone resolved to stand firmly behind the Governor across all political divides.
At the centre of the endorsement was the Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Barr. Steve Oruruo, who delivered a stirring commendation of Governor Mbah’s leadership. Oruruo noted that Mbah’s administration had redefined governance by erasing sectional politics through impactful projects spread evenly across the state’s 260 political wards.
“In the history of our politics, leadership from Enugu East has always come with bold reforms,” Oruruo said. “When Governor Peter Mbah assumed office, trust between the people and government was broken. He came with vision, sincerity, and verifiable achievements that bridged that gap. With 260 Smart Schools, 260 Primary Health Centres, ultramodern transport terminals, massive road projects, the rebirth of Nigergas, revitalisation of Hotel Presidential, and even the commissioning of Enugu Air, Mbah has repositioned Enugu on the pedestal of greatness. Sectionalism has been deleted from our politics. For these reasons, we in Enugu East boldly declare there is no contest in 2027—Governor Mbah has earned our trust and mandate.”
Other speakers echoed this position, reinforcing the zone’s resolve. The 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, likened his support for Mbah to the biblical transformation of Saul to Paul, pledging to devote himself to the Governor’s reelection. The motion he moved for adoption was seconded by former APC State Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, who emphasised that Mbah’s achievements had transcended party lines.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, underscored the Governor’s reforms in infrastructure, healthcare, security, and Internally Generated Revenue, declaring that “there is no vacancy in the Lion Building come 2027.”
Contributions also came from veteran politician Deacon Ogbodo, who read the communiqué, as well as the Chairman of the PDP in Enugu East Senatorial Zone, Hon. Nnamdi Nwafor, and the longest-serving council chairman in the zone, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, who described Mbah’s governance as a revolution in grassroots development.
Other stakeholders, including former Deputy Governor Dr. Sunday Onyebuchi, campaign spokesperson Barr. Nana Ogbodo, and several political leaders, legislators, and traditional rulers, lent their voices in unison, affirming that Governor Mbah’s unprecedented performance had left no room for political contest.
The endorsement, sealed with overwhelming consensus, has positioned Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the unshakable choice of Enugu East Senatorial Zone for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
