Enugu Governor’s Wife, Her Excellency, Nkechinyere Mbah, Showered with Praise as ALGON Chairperson Mrs. Rita Edeh Highlights Her Humanitarian Legacies

In a deeply emotional and resounding expression of gratitude, the wife of the Governor of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, has received glowing commendation for her exceptional humanitarian service, motherly leadership, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of women, children, and the elderly across Enugu State.

The appreciation was conveyed by Mrs. Rita Edeh, the wife of the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Council and Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, who spoke on behalf of Enugu women and grassroots leaders across the 17 local government areas of the state. Mrs. Edeh described the First Lady as a rare embodiment of compassion, humility, and purposeful leadership whose influence continues to touch lives beyond social status, age, or location.

According to Mrs. Edeh, the First Lady’s humanitarian footprint is evident in her passionate advocacy for women empowerment, child protection, social inclusion, and dignified care for senior citizens. Through well-coordinated interventions, outreach programmes, and strategic partnerships, Mrs. Mbah has consistently prioritized the most vulnerable, ensuring that compassion remains at the heart of governance in Enugu State.

Special emphasis was placed on the First Lady’s support for social investment initiatives, including programmes targeted at elderly care, widows, indigent families, and women-led households. Mrs. Edeh noted that these initiatives have not only restored hope to thousands but have also reinforced the values of empathy, equity, and shared responsibility across communities.

She further remarked that Mrs. Mbah’s leadership style, marked by accessibility, sincerity, and action, has redefined the office of the First Lady as one driven by service rather than ceremony. Her regular engagement with women groups, community leaders, and youth organizations has fostered trust and strengthened the social fabric of the state.

Mrs. Edeh also acknowledged that the First Lady’s humanitarian strides strongly complement the transformative vision of her husband, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State. Under Governor Mbah’s administration, Enugu State has recorded notable progress in infrastructure renewal, human capital development, healthcare delivery, education reform, economic revitalization, and inclusive governance—creating an enabling environment for social development initiatives to thrive.

Speaking as ALGON Chairperson, Mrs. Edeh emphasized that local governments have directly felt the impact of the First Lady’s people-oriented programmes, which have strengthened grassroots development and promoted unity across the state. She added that Mrs. Mbah’s interventions resonate deeply at the community level, where the needs of women, children, and the elderly are most pressing.

The message of gratitude concluded with heartfelt prayers for divine wisdom, strength, and continued grace for Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, as she remains steadfast in her mission to uplift the vulnerable, inspire women, and build a more compassionate, inclusive, and hopeful Enugu State.
