The Enugu Grassroots Mobilisation Force (G-17), the most formidable and populous political support movement in Enugu State, has officially launched a comprehensive endorsement and registration process aimed at securing the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in the 2027 governorship election.
The initiative, unveiled at a high-level leadership meeting held in Enugu on Saturday, January 17, 2026, marks the commencement of a massive ward-to-ward mobilisation and endorsement exercise across the state’s 260 political wards and 17 Local Government Areas, targeting the registration and mobilisation of over 500,000 grassroots members in support of Governor Mbah’s second-term bid.
At the heart of the exercise is a specially designed Endorsement Register, consisting of 1,000 pages per Local Government Area, structured to capture names, phone numbers, polling units, wards, and signatures of members endorsing Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. The register, according to the leadership of G-17, will serve as a powerful grassroots validation of the Governor’s widespread popularity and acceptance across Enugu State.
Speaking at the launch, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman, and Director-General of G-17, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, described the exercise as a people-driven political movement anchored on performance, gratitude, and continuity.
“This is not politics as usual. This is the voice of the people being documented, ward by ward, polling unit by polling unit. Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has earned the trust, loyalty, and confidence of Ndi Enugu through visionary leadership and measurable results. His re-election in 2027 is not negotiable; it is a reward for excellence and a mandate for continuity,” Dr. Mbah declared.
Recalling the group’s historic endorsement of Governor Mbah during its Strategic Stakeholders Meeting in October 2025, where he was also crowned Grand Patron of G-17, Dr. Mbah said the launch of the endorsement register is a deliberate move to translate words into action.
“Last year, we made a promise before the people and before history. Today, we are activating that promise. G-17 is taking this endorsement to the grassroots because Governor Mbah’s achievements are visible in the grassroots. From water to roads, from education to digital economy, the people can see, touch, and feel governance,” he added.
Dr. Mbah further charged Local Government and Ward Coordinators to immediately take the endorsement registers to their various communities, emphasizing that every member must be captured to ensure total mobilisation ahead of 2027.
Also speaking, the Deputy Director-General of G-17 for Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Chief Celestine Okanya, described the registration exercise as a historic grassroots movement that reflects the genuine will of the people.
“What we are witnessing today is democracy in its purest form. The people of Enugu North have seen the difference Governor Mbah has made, and they are ready to stand with him. This registration will prove beyond doubt that Ndi Enugu want continuity, stability, and sustained development,” Chief Okanya stated.
He noted that Governor Mbah’s inclusive governance style has restored confidence in leadership and inspired renewed hope across communities that had long yearned for purposeful administration.
On his part, the Deputy Director-General of G-17 for Enugu West Senatorial Zone, Rt. Hon. Jeff Mbah, said the endorsement drive represents a collective appreciation of performance, stressing that Governor Mbah’s second term is inevitable.
“Enugu West is fully mobilised. The Governor’s leadership has touched every zone without bias. His vision is clear, his delivery is unmatched, and his commitment to the future of Enugu is unquestionable. 2027 is already settled because the people have spoken through their loyalty and support,” Rt. Hon. Mbah affirmed.
He described Governor Mbah as a transformational leader whose policies have repositioned Enugu as an emerging economic and digital hub, adding that continuity is critical to consolidating the gains already recorded.
Adding her voice, the G-17 National Women Leader, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ehjor, said women across the state are fully aligned with the re-election project, citing the Governor’s gender-inclusive policies and empowerment initiatives.
“Women have found a leader who listens, who includes, and who delivers. Governor Mbah has created opportunities for women to thrive, to lead, and to contribute meaningfully to governance. That is why women are taking ownership of this endorsement exercise and mobilising massively at the grassroots,” she said.
Hon. Ogboata Ejioh assured that women coordinators in all wards will play a strategic role in ensuring the success of the registration exercise, describing the Governor’s re-election as a collective mission of gratitude and progress.
The leadership of G-17 unanimously reaffirmed its resolve to mobilise across the 17 Local Government Areas, insisting that the endorsement registers will reflect the true strength and reach of the movement ahead of 2027.
While the ward-to-ward exercise kicks off statewide, the group vowed that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah will be overwhelmingly re-elected to consolidate his transformative agenda and sustain the development momentum across Enugu State.
According to G-17, the message from the grassroots is clear: continuity is non-negotiable, progress must be sustained, and Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah remains the people’s choice.
