Young Political Leaders of Enugu State, Write Open Letter to Senator Chimaroke Nnamani

AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY SENATOR CHIMAROKE NNAMANI

              By

Young political leaders of Enugu State.

CAMPAIGN AND ELECTION TIME ARE OVER; IT IS NOW TIME TO BUILD.

A call  to a political grandfather

Sir, we found your continuous attack on the immediate past Governor of Enugu State Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi since after your loss of election as unwarranted, a distraction, full of bias, unpatriotic and an action capable of heating up unnecessary political rancour in our dear State Enugu. Enugu indigenes and of course Sen. Nnamani can still attests that one of the biggest legacy of Gov Ifeanyi was maintaining peace and respect for different political opinions, choices and affiliations in Enugu, and the least we expect  now is seeing our respected elders fanning the embers of political wars and discord in the state.

His Excellency Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani you should not forget that you've played very visible and major role in building the Enugu of today in which history will not forgive us if we fail to state categorically our unalloyed gratitude for your substantial human capital and infrastructural developmental strides in Enugu.

The crop of leaders we have in Enugu today is majorly from the Ebeano political family or has an affiliation with the Ebeano dynasty. Such a big fish who raised most political big wigs in Enugu state today should not be seen talking in the manner and most embarrassing way, you, our revered Senator and political grandfather is doing. Fathers don't destroy, they build. Your Excellency,  your legacies are indeed legacy for the next generation to celebrate. A seasoned Builder of men. We respect!

Politics is like a journey and power is transient and at the end of any political dispensation, someone must be elected for the continuation of good governance and quality representation.

The baton fell on His Excellency Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi UGWUANYI, whose choice then was as a result of his enviable track records and one of the major funders of the political activities in his local government.

We remain grateful for rewarding his efforts and

not taking his capacity for granted. He came, and he impacted. The legacies of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi is very visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. Such a man like Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who instituted the biggest youth involvement in politics shouldn't be maligned the way and manner you are doing Your Excellency.

The 2023 election was like a hurricane, no political permutation envisaged the wave of change that took place especially in Enugu. Many lost in the election including the former Governor Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whom you have dedicated untoward and unwarranted attacks on.

Your Excellency, Dr. Chimaroke, don't forget that after your first tenure in the Senate, your political career met its waterloo and you left the space almost forgotten. most of your loyalists left you and virtually all the existing political giants in the state were against your renaissance to Enugu politics.

It took His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi  UGWUANYI who defied all odds, set his political career at stake, took the most suicidal political step, ignoring every "reasonable" advice from Enugu political fathers and mates never to return you to power and still went ahead to resuscitate your forgotten political influence. If this is an appreciation, Your Excellency, it is the worst form of it.

You were in the United State without any hope of political survival when Gov. Ugwuanyi took bullets, appeasing all political stakeholders here in your favour. He bought your senatorial form in your absence, did all the necessary documentations, covered your campaigns and made sure you got elected back as a senator before your returned to Nigeria. Your recent actions doesn't show how best to appreciate kind gestures done to a man. Bad optics!

UGWUANYI gave you back the relevance you once lost. He gave you all your necessary rights and privileges. Ebeano came back alive.

Have you forgotten Your Excellency, how you led the entire people of Ebeano political family on a courtesy visit to IFEANYI UGWUANYI at Enugu state government house to pledge your loyalty in a viral video circulating on the Internet?

Could this be a case of dementia or just a deliberate effort to malign and destroy the good image of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi? Whichever way it is, your recent attack is uncalled for.

Calling out a man whom you publicly called your political leader, who returned you from political oblivion, against all political interest, permutation and zoning in the state. This politics of "when it favours me, you are good man" won't help us as a state and we your political grandchildren.

During the last party primaries, UGWUANYI ensured you emerged the PDP flag bearer of Enugu East Senatorial District despite your obvious anti party activities. You as a democrat who believes in Democracy and a dodged  grass root politician who understands interest and choice of the masses, saw how the Good People of Enugu East came out in their numbers and made a statement on the day of the election.

Sir, no one is to be blamed for the last election outing. The people made their choice not Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

We your political grandchildren sincerely call on you to please maintain peace and love with Ifeanyi UGWUANYI for the general interest of your political grandchildren and ndi Enugu knowing so well what your unity will bring to Ndi Enugu and for the overall national political gain.

Nevertheless, it is not in the culture of any right thinking Igbo youth to insult the elder and it’s on that premise that we call on you to keep peace alive with Ifeanyi UGWUANYI. Sheath your sword and let peace reign.

Finally, we call on the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barr. Peter Mbah to step in on this matter and ensure that peace reigns by calling for peace and a reconciliation meeting between the duo and other political leaders in the state as a mater of urgency. As the father of the state, we encourage him to act fast on this matter as it concerns two respected formal Governors of our dear state.

We equally encourage him to see the need to build on the legacies of the former Governors especially in human capital development and the involvement of youths in the governance of the state. We remain loyal to the good people of Enugu and willing at all times to contribute immeasurably to the growth of the state as the peace and unity of our state shall be our gain.

The statement was signed by Hon. Ebube Samuel Nebo (JP), Hon. Dr. Chika Emmanuel Obeta, Hon. Sebastine Prince Odo, Hon. John Tochukwu Ogbodo.

Hon. Chidi Concord Yakubu, Hon. Chidi Ilogebe, Hon. Mark Onuoha and Hon. Ekala Ide Ikenna Jnr.

God bless Enugu State.
