Gov Peter Mbah's Swift Action on Fuel Subsidy Alleviation Praised by Senator Ngwu



Senator Osita Ngwu from Enugu West Senatorial District praised the governor's prompt action in alleviating the adverse effects of the Federal Government's removal of fuel subsidy on the people of Enugu State.


Senator Ngwu praised Governor Mbah's quick response and hailed the initiation of the committee as excellent news for retirees who had dedicated their productive years in service to the Coal City State. The move reflects Governor Mbah's commitment to addressing the welfare of retirees and ensuring they receive their deserved benefits.


Expressing confidence in the efficacy of both the palliatives and the pension payment committee, Senator Ngwu urged the committee members to work diligently and transparently to achieve their objectives and ensure the benefits reach those in need.


Governor Mbah's care and empathy were evident through the rollout of palliatives to mitigate the untold hardships faced by the residents of Enugu State due to the harsh economic realities resulting from the fuel subsidy removal. The palliatives were distributed by a committee chaired by the governor's loyal deputy, His Excellency Ifeanyi Ossai, with clear instructions to handle the distribution transparently and swiftly to those in dire need.


Governor Mbah's commitment to upholding the welfare of the people and eradicating poverty in Enugu State is commendable. Since assuming office, he has implemented numerous people-oriented policies, programmes, and projects.

The committee, led by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), includes distinguished members such as Kenneth Ugwu, the Head of Service, Mr. Anthony Okenwa, the State's Accountant-General, and Prof. Obiamaka Egbo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Finance Management.


With the Palliative Committee, chaired by Hon. Okechukwu Sydney Edeh, in charge of distributing the relief items, the governor's administration is determined to provide essential support to the citizens of Enugu State during these challenging times. The governor's actions have garnered praise and support from Senator Osita Ngwu and other stakeholders, urging him to continue providing dividends of democracy to the people.

A middle-aged woman was reportedly killed today in Enugu, Tuesday, 24th of September 2024, in Nsukka Town in separate incidents involving the notorious Oriokpa masquerades, whose violent activities have continued to instill fear in the local communities.
