Good Governance Advocacy Group Criticizes Enugu State Government's Lengthy IMT Investigation While ESUT was Quickly Cleared of Students Death, Urges the State Government to Address Promised Initiatives

While expressing their strong position on recent happenings in Enugu State, a good governance advocacy youth group, the Concerned Enugu State Youths (CESY) have unanimously criticized the prolonged investigation at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu.

According to CESY, the 8-Man Investigative Panel appointed by the Enugu State Government has faced scrutiny due to its extended duration and perceived biased approach. They also highlight the swift exoneration of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) in relation to student deaths on its campus.

CESY's questioning of the state government's priorities leads to a crucial query: Does the Enugu State Government now prioritize perfection at IMT over safeguarding ESUT students' lives?

This question arises due to the glaring contrast in the timeframes of the two investigations. While ESUT was investigated and cleared of any blame within a brief two-hour meeting, the IMT inquiry has extended into its second week without a resolution.

In their Thursday morning press release in Enugu, CESY emphasizes that their concern, as conveyed in this statement, doesn't solely revolve around the perceived bias in the prolonged IMT investigation. Instead, their main concern is the state government's need to fulfill at least one of its campaign promises after nearly 100 days in office.

                  PRESS RELEASE

We the Concerned Enugu State Youths (CESY) express our unanimous dissatisfaction with the ongoing prolonged investigation at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, being conducted by the 8-Man Investigative Panel appointed by the Enugu State Government.

In contrast, the state government swiftly exonerated Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) of any responsibility for the mysterious deaths of students on its campus.

We are perturbed to raise a pertinent question: Does the Enugu State Government suddenly prioritize achieving perfection at IMT over safeguarding the lives of ESUT students?

Our query arises from the fact that while it took the government a mere two hours to clear ESUT of any wrongdoing in the tragic student deaths, the investigation into IMT's activities has extended into its second week without a resolution.

We wish to clarify that our concern in this press release is not solely about the perceived bias in the ongoing IMT investigation, istead, we emphasize the importance of the state government fulfilling at least one of its campaign promises after nearly 100 Days in office.

We assert that the government should concentrate on fulfilling its commitments to the public rather than engaging in targeted probes and investigations that divert attention from its core responsibilities.

Through this press statement, we the Concerned Enugu State Youths (CESY) call on the Enugu State Government to uphold the trust vested in them by Ndi Enugu and ensure that government actions and initiatives represent the interest of all zones within the state.

Thank you, and may God bless you!

Yours in struggle,

The youth group argued that the government should concentrate its efforts on delivering on its commitments to the public, rather than engaging in targeted probes and investigations that may divert attention from its core responsibilities. BLIND SPOT BULLETIN
