Ebonyi PDP Stakeholders Reconcile Differing Opinions, Set for Party Congress

With a powerful demonstration of solidarity and determination, the Barr. Oruruo-led Caretaker Committee of the Ebonyi State Chapter of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) orchestrated a pivotal stakeholders' meeting in Enugu on Sunday. Themed “Engagement for a Peaceful and Transparent Congress,” this crucial assembly gathered the party’s eminent figures to strategize and solidify the party’s foundations ahead of the forthcoming congress.

Barr. Oruruo, chairman of the Ebonyi PDP caretaker committee, set a compelling tone in his opening remarks. "The PDP is the bedrock of other political parties in Nigeria and must not be allowed to falter," he asserted, emphasizing the necessity of unity and proactive engagement.

Expressing gratitude for the stakeholders' readiness to unite and advance, Oruruo stated, "With the class of people gathered here today, the PDP will bounce back. We're aware of the party’s previous challenges due to improper conduct, but I assure you that those days are over. Every member will have a voice." His message resonated with a clear promise: the era of disarray has ended, and the party is on the brink of a renaissance.

Reclaiming the PDP Legacy, Barr. Oruruo highlighted the party's profound roots in Ebonyi State, assuring attendees that efforts are underway to welcome back those who had been driven away by past power struggles. "Ebonyi is a PDP state, and those who were sidelined are eager to return. We are strengthening the party to offer robust opposition to the APC."

"As a unified front, the PDP is big enough to accommodate everyone," Oruruo continued, emphasizing the importance of unity. "Everyone in a key position in Ebonyi today owes their success to the PDP. We must work together, openly and genuinely, to ensure our collective success."

Addressing the press post-meeting, Oruruo described the gathering as a triumph. "We had a very successful meeting, bringing the elders and leaders of the party to the table. Their presence alone signifies victory. We reconciled differing opinions and set the tone for our next major event—the party congress."

Oruruo assured stakeholders that the committee is prepared for the challenges ahead. "We are committed to peace and building bridges instead of walls. Through continuous advocacy, prayer, and cooperation, the party’s pains will end."

Touching briefly on Senator Anyim Pius Anyim's defection to the APC, Oruruo remarked, "Senator Anyim had informed us months ago of his resignation. His move is a personal choice, but our party remains the largest in West Africa, and the umbrella is always open for returnees."

The star-studded meeting saw the attendance of prominent figures such as the National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Chief Ali Odefa; Former Governor Senator Sam Egwu, represented by Fred Onwe; the PDP’s last governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Odi, represented by Senator Igwe Nwagu Paulinus; former national secretary Barr. Onwe Solomon Onwe, and several members of the caretaker committee. While the meeting concluded, the atmosphere was charged with renewed hope and determination. The stakeholders left with a unified vision, ready to steer the PDP towards a brighter, more inclusive future.

Stay tuned as the Ebonyi PDP embarks on this transformative journey, setting the stage for a peaceful, transparent, and victorious congress.
