AHEAD INAUGURATION, Hon. Peter Okpara Commends Newly Elected Chairmen, Urges Strategic Focus for Community Development


Ahead of the upcoming inauguration of the 17 newly elected local government chairmen on September 30, 2024, Hon. Peter Okpara has extended his commendation, particularly recognizing Hon. Engr. Beloved Dan O. Anike (Pastor), the Mayor-elect of the East. In his remarks, Hon. Okpara highlighted the significant responsibilities awaiting the incoming chairmen amidst Nigeria's economic challenges. He urged them to prioritize community value creation, job opportunities, and human empowerment as crucial strategies for addressing insecurity and fostering development. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of infrastructure, particularly road construction, to improve governance perception and encourage public cooperation.


Hon. Okpara emphatically stated thus;

_On September 30, 2024, as we inaugurate the newly elected 17 local government chairmen, significant expectations arise amidst Nigeria's economic challenges._


_I strongly encourage them to focus on creating value for the community._


_Addressing insecurity involves more than just increasing security personnel or equipment; it also requires job creation and human empowerment. An idle individual can become susceptible to negative influences, making job creation and empowerment crucial for the new council chairmen._


_Furthermore, investing in infrastructure development and road construction can alleviate public discontent with governance. Efficient road networks foster positivity and promote tax payment compliance._


_Strategic appointments can also mitigate crime._


_As constituents, we must demonstrate patience and support our leaders through prayer, as advised in the Bible, rather than criticizing or disparaging them due to unfulfilled expectations. A brighter tomorrow begins._

Again, Oriokpa Masquerades Kill Another Innocent Woman in Enugu

A middle-aged woman was reportedly killed today in Enugu, Tuesday, 24th of September 2024, in Nsukka Town in separate incidents involving the notorious Oriokpa masquerades, whose violent activities have continued to instill fear in the local communities. The first casualty, an unidentified middle-aged woman, met her untimely death at Aku Road, Obechara area, Nsukka, after being chased by one of the Oriokpa masquerades.
