FULL DETAILS: PDP Governors Forum Meeting
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors' Forum, under the leadership of Bauchi State Governor, Bala A. Mohammed, held a crucial meeting at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge in Asokoro on October 22, 2024. The gathering was aimed at fortifying party unity and formulating strategic plans ahead of the upcoming Ondo State gubernatorial election scheduled for November 16, 2024.
In light of the election, the forum took significant steps to strengthen internal cohesion, urging members to refrain from divisive rhetoric that could undermine the party’s electoral chances. The emphasis on unity was seen as a strategic move to position the PDP as a formidable contender against the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the decision to reschedule the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally set for October 24, to November 28, 2024. This shift in schedule is aimed at providing the party with more time to develop a comprehensive approach to the Ondo elections and beyond, particularly the 2027 general elections.
The meeting also brought together various party stakeholders, including representatives from the Board of Trustees, National Working Committee, National Assembly Leadership, and the Forum of Former Governors, showcasing a united front across the party’s leadership. The resolutions, signed by Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to a cohesive strategy and a united party structure moving forward.
As the PDP gears up for the Ondo elections, the forum’s decisions are seen as critical in rallying members and supporters for a robust electoral contest.
