HAPPENING NOW! : Again, Cult Clash Leaves Five Dead in Ifite-Awka, as Wailing Echoes Through the Community
At least five individuals have been killed in an ongoing violent clash between suspected cultists in Ifite-Awka, a community in Anambra State. The incident, which is unfolding right now, has plunged the area into chaos, with reports indicating that most of the victims are northerners residing in the community.
Eyewitnesses at the scene describe a horrifying situation, with the dead bodies of young men littering the streets as their fellow northerners gather, wailing in grief and disbelief. One individual is reported to have sustained serious injuries and is currently fighting for his life as the violence continues.
This fresh wave of bloodshed comes just days after a similar brutal attack occurred in Nibo, also in Anambra State, where gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians, leaving at least ten dead in what police have since identified as a clash between rival cult groups. The Nibo killings left the community reeling, with images of dead bodies strewn across markets and streets sparking outrage and fear across the region.

The spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development.
He said, “The Police responding team has taken over the scene of indiscriminate shooting today 24/10/2024 by 9:15 am at Ifite, behind Unizik gate, Awka by suspected gunmen.
“Preliminary information showed that the armed men unprovoked started shooting sporadically and some bullets fatally hit four persons in the area and were rushed to the hospital for aid by the police operatives. Also, some empty shells of bullets have been recovered at the scene.
