BREAKING: Armed Thugs Allegedly Sponsored By MC Oluomo Attack NUJ Secretariat in Abuja, Disrupt Event, Injure Participants

There was chaos at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council Secretariat in Utako, Abuja, on Thursday when a group of armed thugs allegedly loyal to Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, stormed the premises and violently disrupted an event. The incident left several participants injured and property destroyed.

The event, organized by the Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria (BCAN), an affiliate of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was meant to inaugurate the association's new leadership. However, it turned into a nightmare when the thugs, wearing caps emblazoned with MC Oluomo's image, invaded the venue brandishing dangerous weapons, including machetes, knives, bottles, and sticks.

Led by one Segun Aluwaye, who identified himself as the chairman of Berger Park, the attackers forced their way through the main gate of the Secretariat and unleashed mayhem. Participants, including government officials and invited guests, were chased out of the hall as the thugs destroyed valuable items such as cameras, chairs, tables, and fans. The pandemonium saw attendees and staff scurrying for safety.

Reports indicate that the attackers arrived shortly after the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, who was the special guest of honor, had left the venue. Even the security personnel on duty, including officers from the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), were not spared from the attack.

Comrade Prince Israel Ade Adeshola, Chairman of BCAN, described the incident as shocking and unfortunate. "We came to the NUJ Secretariat to inaugurate our association, but some miscreants stormed the venue with dangerous weapons, disrupting the event and injuring our members. They destroyed many items and chased dignitaries and guests out of the hall," he said. According to him, the inauguration aimed to address the menace of "One Chance" crimes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and establish accurate data for bus conductors.

Adeshola added that the attackers even targeted security agents, chasing them into various offices and injuring them. The destruction caused significant disruptions and panic among those present.

At the time of this report, it remains unclear whether any arrests were made. However, police vehicles were stationed in front of the Secretariat to prevent further escalation. BCAN has vowed to pursue legal action against the perpetrators and called on President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to intervene by holding MC Oluomo and his followers accountable.

This incident highlights a worrying trend of violence and lawlessness undermining public safety and civic activities, calling for urgent attention from authorities to ensure justice and deterrence.
