Finally, Nigerian Army Bow to Pressure, Releases Investigative Journalist
Investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo has been released by the Nigerian Army. His release was confirmed by his lawyer, Abimbola Ojenike, who stated that Soyombo was freed shortly after 7 pm on Friday.
The military had previously stated that Soyombo was arrested at an oil bunkering site. Ojenike clarified that Soyombo had been released to his lawyers, and technically, if his attention is needed, his lawyers would be required to present him.
Soyombo had been detained for three days, as reported by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) on X, which stressed that journalism is not a crime.
