  Nigerian Woman Becomes US Judge:

Abayomi Whint, a Nigerian woman based in the United States, has been sworn in as a judge for the Kings County New York Civil Court. The ceremony took place on January 23, 2025, at Brooklyn Law School. Whint was one of the eight candidates elected as judges in Brooklyn during the November 2024 election.

In an emotional video shared on her Instagram, Whint was seen taking the oath of office to the cheers of her family and friends. She pledged to discharge her duties to the best of her ability. Whint has over 20 years of experience practicing law, mainly in the public sector. She is a certified mediator and arbitrator specializing in conflict resolution and has also participated in leadership roles, fostering a culture of belonging and teamwork.

In a chilling incident that occurred on Wednesday, September 19, 2024, a woman's life was saved after her desperate cries for help exposed an alleged ritual attempt in an Abuja hotel. The scene unfolded at Top View Hotel, Wuse Zone 5, where hotel staff rushed to rescue the woman from a harrowing ordeal. According to witnesses, the woman's screams were heard from one of the hotel rooms, prompting hotel staff to act swiftly.
