[VIDEO] BREAKING: Anambra Security Operatives Arrest Notorious Gang Leader Terrorising Idemili North, Nnewi and Environs

 Anambra State security operatives have apprehended Obiajuru Ibeaya, the alleged leader of a criminal syndicate based in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.The group is notorious for orchestrating a sophisticated phone scam, wherein they impersonate hired assassins to extort money from unsuspecting victims.


The modus operandi involves placing threatening calls to random individuals, during which the caller claims to be an assassin who has had a change of heart about executing a supposed contract to kill the recipient. The caller then requests funds, ostensibly to cover fuel costs for their return journey, preying on the victim's fear and gratitude to illicitly obtain money.

Ibeaya was tracked down and arrested by the diligent security team in Umuoji. In a video interview following his arrest, he confessed that this deceptive scheme had been lucratively successful for the group. He revealed that they utilized various stolen SIM cards to perpetrate the fraud, making it challenging for authorities to trace their activities.

This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by Anambra State security agencies to combat innovative criminal enterprises that exploit technology and psychological manipulation. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious communications to law enforcement agencies promptly.

The authorities have reiterated their commitment to dismantling such criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens within the state.

In a chilling incident that occurred on Wednesday, September 19, 2024, a woman's life was saved after her desperate cries for help exposed an alleged ritual attempt in an Abuja hotel.
