Mother's Day: Nkanu East Council Chairman, Hon Edeh, Celebrates Nkanu East Women



The Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, joins the global community in celebrating women on the occasion of Mother’s Day, 2025. 


In a statement issued by his media office, the chairman acknowledges the vital roles mothers play in society, both as home builders and key partners in development. He commends their resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions to family, governance, business, and community growth. 


In his heartfelt goodwill message, Hon. Edeh extends special greetings to his wife, Mrs. Rita Edeh. He recognizes her sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the progress of their family, Nkanu East , and beyond. 


He stated, "Mothers are the backbone of society, playing indispensable roles in shaping our homes, communities, and the nation. As we celebrate Mother’s Day, I want to express my deep appreciation for the strength, wisdom, and resilience of our mothers and all women in our local government and across the world. We remain committed to supporting policies and initiatives that empower women and promote gender equality."

In a chilling incident that occurred on Wednesday, September 19, 2024, a woman's life was saved after her desperate cries for help exposed an alleged ritual attempt in an Abuja hotel. The scene unfolded at Top View Hotel, Wuse Zone 5, where hotel staff rushed to rescue the woman from a harrowing ordeal.
