Peace Returns to Eke-Aku Market as Governor Mbah’s Intervention Ends Lingering Crisis

The lingering crisis that had plagued Eke-Aku Market in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area has finally come to an end, following the intervention of Governor Peter Mbah’s Market Monitoring Team, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Market Liaison, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah.

The resolution of the crisis was further strengthened by a high-profile visit to the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Ignatius Ojili, Okeife I of Amakaofia Ukehe Kingdom. The revered monarch, in a symbolic display of support, gave his royal endorsement to Governor Mbah’s market reforms, calling for closer collaboration between the traditional institution and market stakeholders. Igwe Ojili stressed that unity among traders, community leaders, and government authorities remains pivotal for sustainable peace and development.

During the interactive session at Eke-Aku Market, Dr. Chinedu Mbah conveyed the Governor’s heartfelt appreciation to the traders for their electoral support and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to keeping its promises. He urged traders to embrace government regulations, especially the use of electronic channels for tax payments, and warned against the construction of illegal structures.

The peace mission, which took place on April 10, 2025, was part of a broader initiative to promote transparency, compliance, and harmony across Enugu State’s commercial hubs. Eke-Aku Market, which had been troubled by disputes over shop allocations, witnessed a new dawn of unity and jubilation as traders warmly received the government delegation and hailed the restoration of order.

The visit brought immediate relief to the traders, who expressed gratitude for the government’s swift action in resolving the crisis. Many described it as the first time they had seen such direct involvement from the state, and they pledged to support ongoing reforms and ensure full compliance with market guidelines.

With this landmark intervention, the Peter Mbah administration has once again demonstrated its dedication to building a peaceful and productive economic environment across Enugu State. The resolution of the Eke-Aku Market conflict stands as a testament to the power of proactive governance, traditional partnership, and grassroots engagement.
