Enugu State Launches Startups Registration Ahead of Tech Fest 2026
In a landmark move that signals Enugu’s determination to become a leading tech hub in Nigeria, the Enugu State Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology has issued a formal Call for Startups, inviting local and foreign innovators to register and unlock a host of economic and growth opportunities.
The announcement was made earlier this week as part of the state’s strategic drive to foster innovation and empower a new generation of entrepreneurs. The program is open to both tech and non-tech startups, with a deadline set for August 15, 2025.
According to the Ministry, successful applicants will gain direct access to:
- Funding support and pitch competitions that can fast-track startup growth;
- Exclusive exposure at Enugu Tech Fest (ETF) 2026, an annual flagship event showcasing cutting-edge innovation;
- Valuable networking opportunities with global investors, giving founders a real shot at international expansion.
The call to action is hosted via a registration portal at http://enugutechfest.com.
“This is more than a call; it’s a signal to young dreamers and creators that Enugu is ready to invest in their vision,” said the MD, Genesys Foundation and Team Lead for the ETF LOC, Eliezer Ajah, in an earlier conversation.
“We are laying the foundation for an inclusive innovation economy.”
With over 60% of Nigeria’s youth population under 30, programs like this offer a pathway to reduce unemployment, diversify the economy, and build scalable solutions tailored to African markets.
Enugu’s initiative also echoes broader national goals of fostering tech clusters outside the traditional strongholds of Lagos and Abuja. By creating enabling infrastructure and platforms for investment, the state is poised to become a magnet for digital talent.
For startups, the benefits are both immediate and long-term: funding, visibility, mentorship, and a place on a larger stage. But for Enugu State, the gains are deeper, ranging from job creation and talent retention to increased GDP and positioning as a beacon of innovation in Southeast Nigeria.
The spotlight on Enugu Tech Fest 2026. where registered startups will showcase their progress, is also expected to draw stakeholders from across Africa’s startup ecosystem, further reinforcing the state’s upward trajectory.
Interested founders and innovators are urged to register before August 15 and seize the opportunity to become part of Enugu’s unfolding success story.
