Enugu APC Youths Drum Support for Tinubu’s Second Term, Appeal to Gov. Mbah to Join Party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) youths in Enugu State, under the leadership of the State Youth Leader, Comrade Peter Chime (Peter Cash), convened a landmark Progressive Youth Summit that drew over 520 ward youth leaders, their deputies, and other stakeholders of the party from across the state.

The summit, which was well attended and vibrantly charged, offered a platform for young voices within the APC to address what they described as the “bastardization of the party’s structure in Enugu” under the current state chairman, Barr. Ugo Agballah, in collaboration with the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji.

A VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IN PRESIDENT TINUBU'S REFORMS AND ENDORSEMENT FOR SECOND TERM

The youths unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, applauding the President for the bold reforms and inclusive governance agenda his administration has pursued particularly policies geared toward stabilizing the economy, empowering entrepreneurs, and ensuring a fairer distribution of national projects across the Southeast.

Speaking on behalf of the youth, Comrade Chime declared:

> “Mr. President has demonstrated in less than two years that he is a leader of vision and courage. The reforms being undertaken may be tough, but they are already laying the foundation for a prosperous and more equitable Nigeria. We, the APC youths of Enugu State, proudly endorse President Tinubu for a second term, and we shall mobilize massively to deliver him in 2027.”

The summit participants further commended Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, describing him as “the most youth-friendly first son Nigeria has ever had” and urged him to continue pressing for youth inclusion at the highest levels of governance.

DIRECT PLEA TO GOV. MBAH

In one of the most symbolic moments of the gathering, the youths went on their knees and appealed directly to Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to consider joining the APC. They argued that aligning Enugu with the ruling party at the center would not only secure the state’s rightful share of federal opportunities but also fast-track the governor’s own development vision for Ndi Enugu.

“Governor Mbah is a man of ideas and results. But without connecting Enugu to the center, many of his bold initiatives may not receive the federal backing they deserve. Joining the APC will place Enugu at the heart of national politics and ensure Ndi Enugu are not left behind in the unfolding opportunities of 2027,” Comrade Chime emphasized.

The youths further recommended that, in line with assurances already given by the national leadership of the APC in Abuja, if Governor Mbah joins the party, he should be adopted as the consensus governorship candidate for 2027, a gesture they say mirrors similar arrangements already in place in other APC-controlled states.

A CALL TO STAKEHOLDERS

The youths, while throwing their weight behind the governor should he cross over to the APC, equally called on prominent leaders of the party—including Senator Ken Nnamani, Hon. Eugene Odoh, former Governor Sullivan Chime, Chief Chris Baywood Ibe, Chief Osita Okechukwu, Ginika Tor, and Hon. Geoffrey Onyeama—to step up and rescue the party from the stranglehold of Agballah and Nnaji.

According to the summit communique, the APC in Enugu cannot continue to be “a private estate of two individuals,” while the broader interest of Ndi Enugu and the future of its youths are being jeopardized.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2027

As political permutations ahead of 2027 gather steam, the Enugu APC youths have now positioned themselves as the conscience of the party in the state, signaling their readiness to champion unity, reform, and inclusivity.

The message from the summit was unambiguous: President Tinubu has earned a second term, Enugu must connect to the center, and Governor Mbah holds the key to that bridge.
