2027: Isi-Uzo Council Chairman, Stakeholders Back Gov Mbah for Another Term
The Chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Council, Hon. Obiora Obeagu, has said there is a growing unanimity of opinion in favour of Governor Peter Mbah seeking a second term in office due to the unprecedented social stability, infrastructural revolution, and political harmony his administration has delivered across Enugu State.
Obeagu stated that Governor Mbah’s recent political alignment with the national ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has further bridged political divides and positioned Enugu to fully benefit from national democratic dividends. He made the remarks on Thursday at the council headquarters in Ikem during the inauguration of the Isi-Uzo Local Government and ward executives of the Enugu State Unity Forum (EUF), a support group championing Governor Mbah’s second-term project.
According to the chairman, the Governor’s developmental strides in Isi-Uzo LGA have made the clamour for his second term both compelling and easier for supporters to advocate. He listed landmark projects initiated by the administration in the area, including 11 Smart Schools, 12 Type-2 Health Centres, the 21.7km Agape–Ogbette Farm Settlement Road, upgrades on the Eha-Amufu road stretching from the park to Umuogiri Bridge, ongoing development of a farm estate, and the 40km Owo–Umualor–Ikem dual carriageway, among other initiatives.
Obeagu urged the newly inaugurated executives to take their responsibilities seriously, assuring them of his full support. He hailed the leadership structure of the EUF for promoting peace, unity, and progressive collaboration.
Inaugurating the executives, the Zonal Coordinator of EUF in Enugu East Senatorial Zone, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwatu, explained that the Forum has five core responsibilities tied to Governor Mbah’s administration, with an additional obligation relating to the council chairman. He reminded the members that their selection emerged from a collaborative stakeholder process and charged them to intensify grassroots awareness of Mbah’s achievements.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the event included the EUF Coordinators for Enugu West and Enugu North Senatorial Zones, Arc Jake Udeh and Prof. Ikpe Ibenekwu, respectively. They praised the rapid infrastructural transformation ongoing across the state and described the Federal Government’s recent appointment of Governor Mbah as Chairman, Committee on the Overhaul of Security Training Institutions, as proof of his distinguished leadership.
The EUF Zonal Woman Leader, Barr. Kate Nnamani, encouraged continued support for Governor Mbah’s developmental vision, while Mbah’s Senior Special Assistant on Strategic Communication, Dr. Collins Ogbu, urged residents to prioritize obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Prof. Sam Ugwu, commended Obeagu for aligning with the Governor’s agenda to improve lives through road construction, bridge development, empowerment schemes, healthcare investments, and scholarship programs.
The APC Caretaker Committee Chairman in Isi-Uzo LGA, Hon. Jacob Abonyi, declared the party’s full support for the activities of the Enugu State Unity Forum in the area.
