The festive atmosphere of Christmas was further enlivened on December 27, 2025, as Chief Mrs Esther Ugwu (Odibeze na Enugu State) paid a warm courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, at his country home in Owo, Nkanu East Local Government Area. The visit, rich in symbolism and goodwill, underscored a shared commitment to the ongoing transformation of Enugu State and signaled sustained solidarity with the governor’s visionary leadership ahead of 2027.
Chief Mrs Ugwu, a renowned real estate mogul and accomplished businesswoman from Akegbe Ugwu in Nkanu West Local Government Area, expressed profound appreciation for what she described as the bold, deliberate and people-oriented governance of Governor Mbah. She commended the administration for opening up Enugu State to local and foreign investment, noting that the renewed confidence of investors is a direct result of purposeful leadership, policy clarity and aggressive infrastructural development.Speaking during the visit, the Odibeze na Enugu State particularly applauded the rapid development of the New Enugu Smart City, describing it as a forward-looking project that positions the state as a prime destination for business, technology and modern urban living. She also praised the massive infrastructural renewal across the state, stressing that the pace and quality of projects under Governor Mbah’s administration are redefining Enugu’s identity.
According to her, the transformation has become so profound that many Enugu indigenes returning home for the Christmas festivities were pleasantly surprised, and even disoriented, by the changing cityscape. “People who knew Enugu and returned this Christmas are missing their way in Enugu,” she remarked, attributing this to the extensive road networks, urban renewal projects and the overall facelift the state has witnessed in just barely three years of the Mbah administration.
